ENEMLOS: Study Visit to the Faculty of Law in Zagreb
A delegation of teachers from the Faculty of Law of the University of Montenegro and representatives of non-academic partners in the ENEMLOS project visited the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb, in the period from 19 to 23 October 2021. The Faculty of Law in Zagreb, as an eminent academic institution that has been successfully engaged in clinical legal education for many years, is one of the partners in the ENEMLOS project. The host and organizer of the education on clinical legal education was the Law Clinic of the Faculty of Law in Zagreb, which, starting in 2010, provides generations of students with practical legal education through work with the so-called living clients, who are provided with free legal aid. We would like to remind you that in December last year, professors, associates and clinical students engaged at the Legal Clinic organized and successfully conducted a three-day online training for partners from Montenegro, during which they presented the establishment and functioning of the Zagreb Legal Clinic and shared their knowledge and experiences. This visit was an exceptional opportunity to complete the knowledge gained in the training through a direct insight into the work of the Clinic. On the first day of the visit, a reception of the Montenegrin delegation was organized at the Faculty of Law, hosted by prof. dr Alan Uzelac, head of the Clinic, associate dr Juraj Brozović, as well as vice-dean of the Faculty of Law in Zagreb prof. Dr. Mirela Krešić. During the following days of the visit, the delegation had the opportunity to stay at the Legal Clinic and directly monitor the work of clinical students with clients who need legal assistance and gain insight into the overall functioning of the clinic. In addition to direct monitoring of the work during the duty at the Clinic, during which clients were received and interviewed, the delegates had the opportunity to visit the premises of the Clinic as well as to talk to student clinicians and receive additional explanations. The delegates met once again with the leaders of prof. Uzelac and Dr. Brozović, in order to summarize their impressions from the duty at the Clinic and exchange opinions. During this meeting, the visit was assessed by both sides as extremely successful and important for the further implementation of the project and, ultimately, the establishment and successful functioning of clinics at the Faculty of Law of UCG as the ultimate goal of the ENEMLOS project.
